Postal officials kill man over BISP corruption

Officials of the Ismail Nagar Post Office killed a secretary of UC-7 after hitting him on the head with bricks in clash over corrupt practices in the distribution of money under the Benazir Income Support Programme. The incident occurred in Kot Lakhpat police precincts on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Arshad (60), resident of Firdos Park area along Ghazi Road. Police said officials of the Ismail Nagar Post Office were distributing money among the needy persons of the area and were taking bribes for handing over the money. They said Adnan, son of UC-7 secretary Arshad, took pictures of the corruption from his cell phone.
The officials snatched Adnan’s mobile phone and subjected him to severe torture. Meanwhile, Arshad rushed to the spot to rescue his son where he was repeatedly hit in the head with bricks. He was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
