A police official arrested a young man and tortured him for over five days after he asked the official to pay for a watermelon.
Kotwali police station Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Yaqub came to Bilal’s stall last week to buy some watermelons for himself and his colleague. When Bilal asked for money, the ASI beat him up in front of a large crowd and later arrested him in a theft case.
This is sad news for the whole police force as they are using power illegally. The poor man was tortured and still there is interference from neither the judiciary nor the higher authorities.
The police officer should be suspended and fined. He should be held accountable and the police should not misuse their powers.
