PCB retaliates by revoking Afridi’s central contract

The Pakistan Cricket Board has launched an inquiry against Shahid Afridi for not only violating the code of conduct but also for giving abrasive remarks against the PCB while announcing his retirement.
An official of the board said: “The PCB has initiated action against Afridi in response to the breaches he has committed under the Central Contract signed with the PCB. He said: “By announcing his retirement in the manner that he breached Clause 2.1.4 of the Central Contract dealing with Covenants of the Cricketer. “In passing disparaging remarks about the board and its officials, Afridi breached Clause 4.4 dealing with media,” he said. He further stated that disciplinary actions have been initiated against Shahid Afridi.
“A show cause notice has been issued to him seeking his explanation on these comments. Afridi has been asked to respond to the letter within 7 days of receipt of the same. “His Central Contract has been suspended with immediate effect. Consequently, all NOCs granted to him have been revoked. “And all payments on account of Central Contract have been suspended,” he maintained.
