The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) will decided about whether it will run a mono train, a rapid bus or a light train after the Japan International Cooperation Agency submits its survey report by June 30. JICA is working on emergency basis on the traffic issues of the metropolis, District Coordination Officer Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed said on Tuesday. He was briefing a delegation of trainee officers of the 37-batch of Police Academy Islamabad that called on him at his office.
“The Asian Development Bank and other international agencies would ensure provision of funds for the Karachi Mass Transit System,” he said. “Two hundred more CNG buses are being brought to the city.”
Syed pointed out that there are around 27 agencies working in the city including the CDGK.
“The Master Plan 2030 for the city has also been worked out under which the city’s three hospitals are being paid special attention to facilitate the masses in ensuring health facilities. These hospitals include Karachi Medical and Dental College, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital,” he said. “More than 100 family parks have been established across the city including Bage-Ibn-e-Qasim and Safari Park,” the DCO added. HE also told the visiting delegation that at least 148 cameras have been installed to monitor the city’s major arteries round the clock.
