Double wages, cut military allocation: WWHL

The Women Worker Helpline (WWHL) sought a 100 percent raise in wages, increment in pensions, and 10 percent less allocation for military in the upcoming budget. The demands were made in a protest in front of Punjab Assembly on Tuesday. The protesters also demanded the government to stop hiking price of basic food items and address the power outage issue immediately. Addressing the occasion, WWHL General Secretary Riffat Maqsood she blamed the government for ignoring problems of working women. “This so called democratic government is spending money on providing luxuries to government officials, assembly members and bureaucrats and not giving any subsidy on food items,” she said, adding that the government should quit if it could not resolve the issues.
