AVLS recovered 464 cars during last four months


Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir on Tuesday directed the city police to take stern action against car-lifters operating in Lahore. While handing over the recovered cars to their owners in Qila Gujjar-Singh Police Line, the CCPO said that action against criminal gangs was mandatory. Deputy Inspector General Investigation Ali Amir Malik and Senior Superintendent of Ploice Investigation were also present.
The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS) Lahore seized 464 cars during the last four month, of which 232 were found from Lahore and 111 from out-station. Another 121 tempered cars were examined by forensic science lab. He said 342 motorbikes were seized in the last four months of which 312 were found from Lahore while 6 were recovered from out of city. The CCPO said that 70 proclaimed offenders, 75 court absconders and 3 gangs involved in car-lifting had been arrested. He said to reduce incidents of car-lifting, check posts had been established in exit and entry points of the city.
