After talking about disintegrating Sindh by making new provinces in the province, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif is holding meetings with nationalists, Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Tuesday. “It is the PML-N leaders’ habit to talk in this manner and later seek forgiveness,” he told journalists. Responding to another question, Khuhro said that PNS Mehran siege was an attack on the country’s sovereignty.
Earlier, the speaker met with Russian consul general Andrey V Demidov, who called on at his office. During the meeting, both leaders exchanged their views on the issues of mutual interest. Khuhro told him that the PPP has made huge sacrifices for the stability of the country and prevalence of the democratic system in it “Pakistan has waged a war against terrorism, and in this regard, it is playing a leading role,” he added.
Khuhro further told the Russian consul general that the current government has resolved longstanding problems including the distribution of resources under the NFC Award, passing of the 18th Amendment, curtailing the powers of the president, empowering the parliament and provision of provincial autonomy. “The government is striving to eradicate the poverty from the country,” he added. The Russian consul general told the speaker that the relations between the two countries need to be strengthened. Khuhro presented a Sindhi ajrak and cap and a Sindh Assembly shield to the Russian diplomat.
