Two new Independent Power Producers (IPPs) with a net capacity of 390MW have been added to the national grid in the last 30 days. IPPs include gas-based 176MW Fauji Dharki Power Project, commissioned on April 22, and 213MW Hubco-Narowal Power Project that started commercial operations on May 16. This was briefed at the Private Power and Infrastructure Board’s (PPIB) meeting, chaired by the Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar, said a press release.
The meeting was apprised that 209MW Bhikki Power Project was expected to be commissioned soon, while 84MW Bong Hydropower Project and 375MW Uch-II Power Project were expected to start operations by 2013. The minister said the Power Generation Policy 2002 was being reviewed.
