Pakistan test series captain Misbah- ul- Haq has said he is not desperate for captaincy and his priority is to perform well as a player for Pakistan.
He said he is happy to lead the side but playing under someone’s captaincy is not an issue for him.
“I’m not desperate to be one day captain, but if the Board wish for me to skipper the one day side then I will do so. I’ve always made my intentions and priorities very clear and that is to play well for Pakistan, irrespective of whether I am captain or not. If someone else is captain then that is not an issue for me, I will play under anyone as skipper and am not anxious to lead the team”, PakPassion.net quoted Misbah, as saying.
He said the match series against Ireland would provide a testing ground to batsmen, as the conditions in Ireland are different than that of Pakistan.
He expressed his disappointment at Pakistan’s failure to win in the test series against the West Indies and said poor performance in the first test led to levelling of the series.
He praised Pakistan cricketer Junaid Khan and Windies bowler Devendra Bishoo for their performance in the match series against West Indies.
