Change in police rules

Pakistan is a country where police has always been blamed of being authoritative. This blame surely has a history and that is totally attributed to the laws that were enacted when British government ruled India.

No apparent progress has been made in changing the predominant police laws in this country. The only documented effort was the Police Ordinance 2002 that too lacks in its implementation. The improvement in citizen-police interaction would only be made possible if the concerned authorities realise that police functions as a public service organisation. This realisation would certainly improve a number of things. Pakistanis need to change their outlook not only for the rest of the world, but for their own benefit, because acting as a civilised nation would help in getting rid of a number of other problems.

  1. Rules need to be changed. How can I play any role to initiate the process of change/ amend the existing rules?
