An appeal to Iran

The visiting governor of Khurasan Rezavi province of Iran, Dr Mehmood Sallai, in Lahore has presented research work carried out by his province on producing electricity from coal to Punjab as gift from his province.

To my knowledge, the coal production in Punjab is almost zero. Nonetheless, the chief minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has announced to establish a project in his province based on coal of Balochistan despite the fact that it is a violation of the constitution because provinces are only allowed to set up coal-based project in case such deposits are found in their own provinces. Therefore, there is no significant benefit to hand over research work to Punjab.

While appreciating good gesture of our brother Islamic and neighbouring country Iran, I hereby appeal to the Government of Iran that copy of such research work may also be provided to Sindh government where gigantic deposits of coal are already found in Thar and Sindh government is already busy to set up mega project for producing electricity from coal. Needless to mention here that about 50 percent of electricity is produced from coal throughout the world.
