On Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s direction, ownership rights of 5-marla plots in Jinnah Abadies were distributed at a function in Jinnah Library Hall on Monday.
Former provincial minister and Muslim League-Nawaz leader Haji Irfan Ahmad Khan Daha was the chief guest on the occasion,. Addressing the gathering, Daha said the PML-N government took a courageous decision on May 28, 1998 to go for nuclear explosions in retaliation to India’s nuclear explosions.
“Now the PML-N has taken it upon itself to provide housing facilities to the poor masses so that nobody is left homeless in Pakistan,” Daha said. He said the Punjab Jinnah Abadis schemes was aimed at providing housing facilities to as much population as possible and 4,6100 plots would be distributed among the homeless in Punjab under this scheme.
Khanewal DCO Rashid Mehmood said the procedure for allotment of plots was transparent and based on merit only. He said 1.340 plots had been marked in 12 villages in Khanewal.
JEWELLER’S SHOP LOOTED: A jeweller’s shop was looted by four armed robbers in Kabirwala on Monday. Witnesses said four armed bandits pulled up a car outside the jeweller’s shop and stormed into it holding owner Abdul Sattar Noor at gunpoint. They said the robbers made off with gold worth Rs 2.5 million.
