Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has no authority to talk directly to the US since it is a politician’s task, Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan said while addressing party workers at the Rail Mazdoor Ittehad leaders’ function on Monday. He said the government, instead of providing a cushion to the Pakistan Army, has exposed it before the US bringing and brought it disgrace. He further said that if the practice continued it would ignite an uprising within military ranks.
Imran also condemned the drone attack in North Waziristan upon the arrival of the US foreign secretary. He called it a ‘cunning’ policy on the part of the US to bring the Taliban on a negotiation table in Afghanistan while asking Pakistan to launch offensive operations against its own people. Imran also attributed the security fallout from the Abbotabad operation to the political leadership of the country and claimed it was promoting US interests and not national interests.
PTI Labour wing: Seperately, Imran announced that the PTI would give tickets to the representatives of labourers in the next general elections. He also said that a workers convention would be convened on the PTI platform, while final date for the convention would be announced before June 30. Imran also announced that the PTI would constitute its labour wing with the name of PTI Labour Federation that would contest for the implementation of labour laws and appropriate salary for the working class and elimination of corruption in the departments concerned. The leader of Rail Mazdoor Ittehad Sarfraz Khan, along with his fellow workers, announced joining the PTI. He expressed gratitude to the PTI leader for his commitment to fight for workers’ rights.
