The Interior Ministry has issued a security warning to Jamiat Ulema Islam- Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman and has requested him to avoid participation in public gatherings. He was also advised to restrain his political activities.
The Interior Ministry, in its report, revealed that Maulana Fazl ur Rehman was at the hit-list of Al-Qaeda and Taliban.
The Ministry, after a report from National Counter Terrorism Authority (NCTA), directed the JUI-F chief to first seek security clearance before participating in public gatherings and processions. The report further explained that security warning was issued to Maulana Fazl under the report of Saudi Intelligence. The report also disclosed that JUI-F had separated from the federal government in December 2010 due to pressure from Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
The report claimed that Maulana Fazl ur Rehman had tried for arrest of two militants, involved in an attack on Saudi Prince Muhammad Bin Naif in 2009. However, he had ceased his efforts following threats from Al-Qaeda.
