Baloch students protest against nuclear tests

A large number of activists from Baloch Students Organisation and National Party (NP) carried out a rally on Sunday in Dalbadin town of Chagai district. Demonstrators protested against nuclear tests in the mountains of Chagai district on May 28, 1998.
The rally, led by NP District President Muhammad Tariq Baloch, started its march from the premises of party secretariat and gathered in front of the Dalbandin Press Club. Participants, carrying placards and banners, chanted slogans against nuclear tests in Balochistan. Addressing the rally, Tariq Baloch, Sangat Saeed and Manzoor Elahi said that atomic blasts were start of the Baloch’s genocide.
They said the atomic radiation had caused various diseases including cancer in Chagai and added that a huge grant was announced in the name of Chagai package after explosions. However, nothing practical was done in this regard and people were left unrelieved.They further demanded that medical teams should be sent to Chagai as medical aid for people was necessary.
Besides, ground water should be tested and people should be helped get free diseases.
