University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (IBBT) has developed bioinformatics software for the analysis of molecular biology data to develop phylogenetic trees to identify and understand the evolutionary relationships among different organisms, both extant and extinct, said UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz. He was briefing the HEC conference/exhibition on ‘Setting standard for the 21st century Pakistan; Universities building economy’ on Saturday in the varsity’s syndicate room.
All faculty members were also present on the occasion. Dr Nawaz said that UVAS had entered in a new era of development of bioinformatics software. He said UVAS, foreseeing the importance of new emerging fields of science, took initiative of the initiation of new disciplines such as bioinformatics. He said that the universities were producing people with leadership qualities and an innovative mindset to solve national problems.
