rulers did not take advantage of being a nuclear state by continuing to loot the masses and pushing the nation to the brink of disaster, noted nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan said on Saturday. He was speaking during a telephonic address to a rally organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) at Faizabad to mark Youm-e-Takbeer, the day Pakistan conducted nuclear tests. Khan said Pakistan had conducted nuclear tests with an aim to make the country’s defence impregnable so that the rulers could focus on sorting out the people’s problems. He said ever since the nuclear tests, nothing had been done for the prosperity of the people and the masses were in grip of prolonged power outages and unemployment.
“It is time the people come forward to get rid of corrupt rulers and make Pakistan the country envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. Pakistan is still there where it was 13 year ago…even the law and order of the country is worst than in the past,” he said. Speaking on the occasion, former MNA and JI leader Mian Aslam praised the role of Dr AQ Khan for making Pakistan the seventh nuclear state of the world. The JI activists took out a rally from Faizabad to AQ Khan’s residence to mark Youm-e-Takbeer. Carrying placards, the participants of the rally raised slogans in favour of Dr Khan and Pakistan. A seven-member delegation of JI leaders led by Mian Aslam later met Dr Khan.
