A PhD student was deprived of valuables from his vehicle parked in the premises of the Punjab University (PU) New Campus on Saturday. Muhammad Tariq parked his car in front of the Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) to attend classes. On returning, he found that two of his bags were missing from the car which had a laptop, camera, clothes and shoes. Tariq alleged that police were not helping him and had not registered a first information report (FIR) of the incident.
The student sought the administration’s help and filed an application with security officials after an effort of three hours. Muslim Town Police Station officials said that a case would be registered after verifying the incident. Students expressed deep concern over the issue of security in the campus after knowing about the incident. Student Asad Farooq criticised the varsity administration for not being able to provide proper security on campus despite having a “military of guards”. Students demanded the varsity provide proper security for students and their belongings.
