Militants kill man, his son in IHK

Suspected Islamist militants shot dead a man and his son after having dinner at their home in insurgency-hit Indian-held Kashmir, a police officer said on Saturday. They were killed late Friday in a village in Handwara, 95 kilometres (60 miles) north of the region’s main city Srinagar, police superintendent Choudhary Aslam told AFP. Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were active in the forest area and were believed to be responsible for the murder of the 58-year-old father and young son, Aslam said.
The Pakistan-based LeT has made no comment on the deaths. “Four gunmen intruded into the house of Ghulam Rasool Mir and three dined with the family,” Aslam said. “After finishing the meal, they started beating Mir, accusing him of being an informer for the Indian security forces.”“His younger son, Manzoor Ahmad, resisted and the gunmen opened fire, killing both Mir and his son,” the officer said.
