Man slaughtered in Nishat Colony

A man was slaughtered by three unidentified men in his home at Nishat Colony late on Saturday. The deceased man was identified as Pir Ali, 50. Police said he was a retired employee of a local insurance company and was in his home along with his wife, three daughters and two sons when three unidentified men stormed his house and attacked hm with a knife. Police said they slaughtered Ali and fled.
Ali died instantly. Police removed Ali’s body to the morgue for autopsy and registered a murder case against unidentified killers on the complaint of deceased’s brother Allahditta.
North Cantt Station House Officer (SHO) Rana Asghar Ali said that the incident could not be considered a robbery. He said that the deceased had an old enmity with his relatives residing in Tandlianwala. He said that investigation is underway and police will soon solve the mystery.
Separately, a 40-year-old motorcyclist was killed by a speeding car in the North Cantt Police Station precincts. The deceased was identified as Zafar Iqbal, a resident of Defence Area. Police said that Zafar was going somewhere and as he reached the North Cantt Area, he collided with a speeding car coming in the opposite direction due to which he was critically injured. Local residents, with help of rescue officials, rushed him to a nearby hospital but he died on the way. Police handed over Zafar’s body to his family. Also on Sunday, a flatbed injured a motorcyclist on Main Multan Road in the Mohlanwal area. The injured was identified as Muhammad Usman, a resident of Sheikhupura. Police said that the deceased was going somewhere and as he reached near Mohalnwal Area on Main Multan Road, a flatbed coming from behind hit him due to which Usman was injured while the truck driver managed to flee.
Local residents informed rescue officials who rushed Usman to a nearby hospital for medical aid. The body of a newborn baby was found in the canal in the Harbanspura Police Station precincts. According to details, some boys, who were swimming in the canal near the Harbanspura Bridge, saw the body of a newborn baby and informed police, which removed the body to a morgue for autopsy. An unidentified 30-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Qila Gujjar Singh Police Station precincts. The deceased was found lying unconsciously at Royal Park on which some local residents informed rescue officials, who rushed him to Mayo Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and started searching for its heirs. Police claimed that the deceased was an addict and died of an overdose.
Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes due to fires at six places. In the first mishap, a fire broke out in a house located in Nishtar Block, Allama Iqbal Town due to a short circuit and reduced valuables worth thousands of rupees to ashes. In the second mishap, a fire broke out in a packages factory located on Main Multan Road and reduced valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees to ashes. In third the mishap, a fire broke out in a shoe manufacturing unit located in Timber Market and reduced valuables worth hundred of thousands of rupees to ashes. In the fourth mishap, a fire broke out in a timber factory located in the Qila Gujjar Singh Police Station precincts and reduced valuables, including timber, worth thousands of rupees to ashes.
Also, a fire broke out in a shop located near Lahore Hotel due to a short circuit and gutted valuables worth thousands of rupees. A fire broke out in an electronics shop located in Al-Aziz Centre, Mall Road near Regal Chowk and reduced valuables, including television and computers worth Rs 60,000 to ashes. Local residents informed rescue officials of the Edhi Foundation, Rescue 1122 and Fire Brigade, which extinguished all the fires.
