Punjab Health Department on Sunday denied withdrawing free health facilities to lawyers and their families in government hospitals. A department spokesman said that according to orders of the Punjab CM, free treatment facilities have been extended to all citizens, including lawyers, in government hospitals. The spokesman said that the Punjab government has provided Rs 10 million to the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) for reimbursement of expenditures incurred on treatment of lawyers. He said that the PbBC, after evolving a procedure, is responsible for reimbursement of medical bills of lawyers. The spokesman clarified that Rs 10 million is not a one time grant but provision of funds would continue when required.
