‘Army is for protection, not diplomacy’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chief Imran Khan said that indulging in dialogues with other countries was not the army chief’s job, as the army was not trained for diplomacy. He demanded the resignations of government high-ups for failing to run the country’s affairs. Khan was addressing the PTI women wing in a convention at PTI office on Jail Road. He said the current government was taking wrong diplomatic steps after failing to ensure the provision of necessities of life to the people. He said Raymond Davis case, Osama bin Ladin episode and attacks on sensitive areas had proved government’s incompetence. He said that Gen Kiyani was not entitled to dialogue with America on the behalf of the country. He said that generals were not trained for such activities. He said that it was the job of democratic leaders to handle international diplomacy.
