Interior Minister Rehman Malik has asked International Cricket Council (ICC) to send their security team to Pakistan check that Pakistan was capable of hosting the cricket competition and would provide the foolproof security to visiting teams.
At the prize distribution ceremony at the end of second one-day match at Pindi Cricket Stadium on Friday, he said that the rival countries were trying to finish sports in Pakistan. “I want to convey a message to ICC that please come and play cricket in Pakistan. We are capable of protecting you. Some countries have tried to end sports in Pakistan but our government has decided to promote sports in the country even in FATA,” he said.
“I would also ask the nation to stand united against the terrorists and promote such activities to defy them. The countries and people who want to end cricket in Pakistan were involved in the conspiracy of attack on Sri Lankan team but I won’t name them at this moment. But I give this commitment to ICC that we will provide you fool proof security in Pakistan,” he maintained.
