Fearing terror attacks, Sindh govt beefs up security at its offices

With the terror threat looming in Karachi nowadays, the security of Sindh Secretariat has been beefed up. Sources told Pakistan Today on Friday that after the deadly attack on the PNS Mehran, the Sindh government has taken special security measures to protect its offices in and around the Sindh Secretariat from a possible terrorist attack. Vehicles without the stickers issued by the chief secretary’s office have been restricted from entering the secretariat’s vicinity through the Shahrah-e-Kamal Ata Turk.
All government officials working in the secretariat have been asked to obtain security stickers and display them prominently on their vehicles.The stickers are available at the office of the Services, General Administration and Coordination secretary, the sources added. They said that Deen Mohammed Wafai Road had been made one-way and parking is only allowed along its one side. Besides, the security has been beefed up at the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estates (SITE) Limited.
SITE spokesperson Kamran told Pakistan Today that the security of the central office has put on red alert in view of the terror threat in the city. “The security staff has been instructed to perform their duties and ensure presence in the office,” he added. He said that more security barriers and CCTV cameras would be installed to ensure proper monitoring of the people entering the SITE office.
