Family matters

The PML(N) Chief Nawaz Sharif has nominated Ishaq Dar for the opposition leader in the Senate. Ishaq Dar’s son is married with Nawaz Sharif’s daughter and his son-in-law Cap (Retd) Safdar is now in charge of PML(N) youth wing, who is nominating his favorite workers on key post in the youth wing and removing those who were loyal to PML(N) during Nawaz Sharif exile.

Nawaz Sharif promoting close relatives to the important position in the party and keeping all the major seats within the family has created resentment among the party senior stalwart. Shahbaz Sharif his younger brother and his son Hamza Shahbaz are running the Punjab government and Hamza is taking decision on official matters.

Instead of appointing Javed Hashmi who has the creditability with the party workers and people, Shahbaz Sharif is the president of the PML(N) and also Chief Minister of Punjab. It is unfortunate that the mainstream political party’s heads are not allowing the democracy within their party and trusting other political leaders than their own family members. The dynastic politics in Pakistan is one of the obstacles in the growth of democracy. The majority of people belong to low and middle class are deprived of key positions by political parties.
