ANP ward president, two cops murdered

At least four people, including Awami National Party (ANP) Lyari Ward president and two cops, were gunned down in the metropolis on Friday. Docks police said the president of ANP’s Lyari Ward, 25-year -old Imran Niazi, son of Ghulam Yaseen, was returning home when he was shot dead by unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle. The victim’s body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi and handed over to the heirs for burial.
A police officer associated with the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) was gunned down near Kamran Chowrangi in Block-11, Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Shahrah-e-Faisal police said Nadeem Khan was at a hotel with his friend when two armed men riding a motorcycle targeted him, killing him on the spot. AVCC chief Farooque Awan said the victim had been serving at AVCC but the killing was an incident of personal enmity and had no link with the victim’s professional responsibilities.
In Allahdad Goth, Mansehra Colony in Landhi, 26-year-old man standing outside his house was killed by unidentified attackers, Sharafi Goth police said. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and handed over to the heirs. The deceased had suffered two bullets to the head and three in his chest. On late Friday night, a policeman identified as ASI Javed Iqbal was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Sector 11½ mobile phone market within the Iqbal Market police jurisdiction. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Iqbal Market police confirmed that the deceased was stationed at the same police station.
