A delegation of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) led by Dr Rana Sohail on Thursday met the Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Javed Iqbal at his office and apprised him on insufficient security at 18 teaching hospitals in Punjab, requesting him to depute police constables at the entrance of emergency wards of these hospitals.
The young doctors said that at times patients were accompanied by armed attendants who entered the emergency wards with weapons and manhandled the on-duty doctors. They said the hospital security was not capable enough to check them or stop them. The IG ensured the security of on-duty doctors and issued directions in this regard.
