Muhammad Maalick, the manager of Moonis Elahi, involved in National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam withdrew his bail petition from the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday saying that he planned to file the petition later.

Maalick’s counsel, appearing before the LHC division bench headed by chief justice, requested that he wanted to withdraw the petition on instructions from his client. The bench accepted his request and disposed of the petition as withdrawn.

It is rumoured that case witnesses have changed their statements in favour of PML-Q leader Moonis and Maalick will file the application on the ‘right time’.
Earlier, a prosecutor suggested the court to link the Maalick’s petition with Moonis so that the matter could be decided on same grounds.

At this, the bench postponed the case hearing, observing that it would be appropriate to wait for Elahi’s petition.
Federal Investigation Agency is to recover embezzled amount of Rs 420 million, which Maalick allegedly deposited in the account of Mohsin Warraich.
