Females from the slum areas of Islamabad got a healthy activity as Youth Development Association organised an Italian floral and jewellery making training workshop for them here on Tuesday. The participants of the workshop made beautiful pots, flowers and jewellery with Italian dough, beads and stones and using other different materials.
Shazia Bashir, who was busy making earrings with pink beads, said: “Making jewellery is a fun and a way to express your creative fashion talents, whether you want to work with beads, stones, gems, metals, hemp or any other material, it depends on your creativeness, but the basic construction methods are fairly simple.” She said, “Custom handmade jewellery also makes a fine gift for birthdays or holidays, and I am planning to exhibit my work as I am sure I can make jewellery of different variations.”
Robina Bhatti, the workshop organiser, said that making handmade jewellery with decorative beads was an addictive hobby that could be done by anyone, even if they had never done something like that before.
