Osama raid an ‘act of war’: Musharraf

Former president Pervez Musharraf said on Wednesday that the United States’ raid that killed Osama bin Laden was “technically an act of war” against Pakistan. “No country has the right to intrude into any other country,” said Musharraf. Bin Laden was killed by US Navy SEALs in an operation in Abbottabad on May 2.
Musharraf described as “arrogance” US President Barack Obama’s comments this week that America would not hesitate to conduct another raid like the one that killed bin Laden if high-value targets were spotted in Pakistan. “Actually, technically, legally, you see it’s an act of war. So I think it is an irresponsible statement, and I think such arrogance should not be shown, publicly, to the world,” he told Cable News Network (CNN)’s Piers Morgan in an interview.
“Theoretically, technically, yes indeed, it’s an act of war,” he said, but noted it would not necessarily signal a war. “How to deal with it is the question, and I leave it to the government there as to how they want to deal with it,” Musharraf added.
