It is estimated that only five percent of the total police force consists of women police officers. With females constituting more than half of the population of Pakistan, it is imperative that more women should be encouraged to join the police force.
It is also required that separate lockups should be available and the number of women police stations should also be increased. The police should follow the proper procedures and keep meticulous records when taking women into custody. Unfortunately, these procedures are seldom followed which lead to further complications. The police force seems to have no apparent strategy to induct females in the force.
