Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court Agha Rafique Ahmad on Wednesday asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Planning Commission to acquire land for the construction of modern jail in the federal capital. He issued these directives in a meeting attended by Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Iqbal Hameed Rehman, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, Member Planning CDA Tahir Shamashad and additional secretaries of planning division, finance division and ministry of interior.
The meeting reviewed the delay in the construction of the jail and directed all concerned department to speed up work on the project. An official of CDA said the authority would acquire 90 acres in sector H-11 or H-17 for the jail which will have state-of-the-art facilities including rehabilitation center and an academy, he said.
