At least 10 people, including MPA Asad Ullah Arain and his brother Obaid Ullah, were booked on the charge of torturing a motorway police officer. According to details, two cars collided with each other on Faisalabad Motorway near Pindi Bhattian.
Both the car riders started quarrelling with each other on the issue of damages. One of them, who was a relative of MPA Asad Ullah Arain, called the MPA and his brother for help. Sajid Ali Sub Inspector of motorway police reached the spot and tried to tackle the issue.
Meanwhile MPA Asad Ulah Arain and his brother along with more than eight armed people reached the scene, violating the traffic rules. When Sub-Inspector Sajid Jutt advised them to abide by the rules and regulations, the MPA and his accomplices allegedly tortured him at gunpoint. The Pindi Bhattian SHO also reached the spot.
All the accused went to home without any hurdle. On the complaint of the victim, Pindi Bhattain police registered a case against MPA Asad Ullha Arain, his brother and other unidentified accused. When connected, PML-N MPA said they had not tortured any officer of the motorway and the matter had been settled in the presence of Motorway DSP Abdul Ghaffar and others the same day.
TRAFFIC POLICE FIXES BRIBE RATES: Hafizabad traffic police has fixed Rs.100 per truck at entry and exit points of the grain market as bribery, alleged the office bearers of Commission Agents Association.
Talking to newsmen here, they alleged the traffic police officials stand idle at the points for just waiting the trucks entered the market or leaving it. If any driver refuses to pay bribe, he is handed over a challan ticket. This bribery is harming the business and causing increase in the fare of trucks, he claimed.
