The 10th National Children’s Mountain Conservation Meet will be held in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from July 3 to 12 under the flag of Adventure Foundation Pakistan (AFP). Giving presentation to the members of national organizing committee, Mohammad Ikram, National Coordinator of NCMC Meet informed that the project was launched on the occasion of International Year of Mountains with a view to create awareness among young people about the mountain ecosystems and involve them in meaningful activities.
Under this programme each year 120 children (from the age group of 11 to 14) are selected from all parts of Pakistan including Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK to attend a 10 days environment education camp. This educational expedition involves young in an action-oriented form of learning about the natural environment and its related problems.
It makes them conscious enough to do something practical for the conservation and preservation of natural environment by undertaking micro level projects in their communities and schools. The children who attend this Meet are given the title of “Eco-Guards” which gives them confidence to play active role in their day to day life.
Thanks Pakistan to-day……………..
