Lahore on highest alert after Peshawar bombing

As the security agencies grapple with a rash of terrorism across the country, the city has been put on highest alert following an explosion in Peshawar although stringent security measures had already been taken after a terrorist attack on PNS Mehran in Karachi.
Security officials say a blast in Peshawar is usually followed by a terror attack in Lahore. A security official, who asked not to be named, told Pakistan Today that security agencies were closely monitoring the situation and they have taken extraordinary measures to safeguard the city from a possible terrorist attack.
According to the CCPO office, the security of consulates, UN offices, and crowded markets have been increased after the Peshawar blast.
On two occasions in the past, terrorists have struck Lahore and Peshawar on a same day. ISI’s Lahore office and Peshawar Qissa Khawani Bazaar witnessed two deadly attacks on May 28, 2009. Terrorists hit again Lahore and Peshawar with two bomb explosions at Moon Market, Lahore and Peshawar’s sessions courts also on the same date; December 7, 2009. As the country is under the grip of a new wave of attacks, terror-stricken citizens are fearing for their safety.
