The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) activists will offer Ghaibana Namaz-e-Janaza of PPP veteran leader Hakim Ali Zardari (late) on Wednesday (today) after the Asr prayer at the Data Darbar.
According to the party sources, PPP Punjab has planned the funeral in absentia to pay a tribute to Hakim, who was the father of PPP co-chairman and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.
Main party leaders from the Punjab will be leaving for Nawab Shah to attend Hakim’s funeral, while the rest of party leaders and workers would attend the funeral in absentia in Lahore.
According to sources, PPP Secretary General Jehangir Badr, Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa, PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, General Secretary Sami Ullah Khan, PPP Punjab General Secretary Naveed Chaudhry, Aurangzeb Barki, Qasim Zia, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Raja Riaz, Zulfiqar Gondal, Mian Misbahur Rehman, Asif Hashmi, Yasmin Rehman, Faiza Malik and a large number of legislators from the Punjab Assembly would attend the funeral in Nawab Shah.
The PPP Punjab leaders termed Hakim’s death a loss for the party. Governor Punjab Latif Khosa, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, Sami Ullah Khan, Naveed Chaudhary, Coordinator to the President Aurang Zeb Barki, PPP Punjab finance secretary, Pakistan Hockey Federation president Asif Hashmi, Qasim Zia and Secretary Muhammad Asif Bajwa in separate statements said that Hakim’s services for democracy and the country would be remembered.
They said the country had lost a great politician. They prayed for peace for the departed soul and fortitude for Asif Ali Zardari and the bereaved family.Pakistan People’s Party Minorities Wing central leader Napolean Qayyum expressed grief at Zardari’s father. He said the Christians and other minorities shared the sorrow.
