The stage is now set for a new debate over mandatory student fees, especially the University’s of Karachi evening programmes.
I find this programme a major injustice. The administration of evening programme is charging approximately 500%, higher fees than the morning programmes.
On the contrary, the staff and teachers are the same government employees. In a simple example, the administration is charging Rs 15,000 for one semester and there are two semesters in a year. While for morning, it is just Rs 3,500.
Why this much fee for the evening students? Suppose, if a student couldn’t get admission in his desired faculty in the morning programme, what else he should do than to get admission in the evening programme?
Initially, this programme was introduced for those who do jobs and want to continue their studies. The vice versa is to do job for evening studies; otherwise keep your study aside.
The services for evening programme are specific as compared to morning programme; for example, shuttle service. Evening shuttle routes are peculiar. Why is this injustice for evening students? This should be sorted out by the concerned authorities and relief should be given to the evening students.
