It was through freedom of expression that human beings attained scientific and industrial progress as well as development, said seniors journalist and faculty members at a seminar on freedom of press was organised here under the auspices of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) at its Abdul Haq Campus. According to a press release issued on Monday, the speakers pointed out that the freedom of press is an essential part of democracy.
The speakers included Nazeer Leghari, Siraj Ahmed, Prof Dr. Seemi Naghmana, Prof Dr Tauseef Ahmed Khan and Prof Samina Qureshi. It was further pointed out that freedom of press leads to the process of development and also ensures the basic rights of the people.
