Thousands gathered in Karachi on the second day of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s protest sit-in against US drone strikes as party chief Imran Khan said on Sunday that sit-ins would be held in various cities across the country to stop the supply line of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) forces in Afghanistan until drone attacks were stopped.
Addressing the protesters at Netty Jetty Bridge, Khan said the war against terrorism was not Pakistan’s war, but America’s. “This war has killed thousands of innocent Pakistanis, women and children,” Khan said. He said a large number of innocent tribesmen had been killed in drone attacks but the government had no courage to stand up to the US. “The time has come for the people to come out onto the streets for the removal of this government,” he added.
“These attacks are against Pakistan’s interests. I ask the government to stop NATO supplies via Pakistan, but I am sure they can’t, because these shameless rulers are getting dollars,” he said.
