Police is the only law enforcement agency that is always in direct contact with the people. However, recent incidents of violence and terrorism have revealed that there is a strong need to strengthen our police. We have already seen that terrorist groups have outnumbered police on a number of occasions.
Although, efforts are underway to impart anti-terrorist trainings to new police recruits, but they should also be well equipped and follow-ups should be conducted to check if the trainings are consistent and yielding results. Terrorism has gone to a new level.
The incident that claimed the life of former Governor of Punjab was a cruel reminder that radical elements are present everywhere.
So not only there should be a screening process in place, but it should also be conducted on regular basis to ensure that this problem can be contained.
