A petition seeking the constitution of a high-level commission to probe into the attack on Pakistan Naval Service (PNS) Mehran base in Karachi was filed in the Supreme Court on Monday.
The petition sought fixing responsibility for the security lapse and taking severe action against those found responsible for letting the incident happen.
The petition was filed by Tariq Asad under Article 184(3) of the constitution, making the prime minister, interior and defence secretaries, interior minister, chief of army staff, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) director general and PEMRA chairman as respondents.
The petitioner requested the court to issue show cause notice over why the prime minister failed to call in the armed forces under Article 245 of the constitution to control the situation and directions to the federal government to resign and hold fresh election.
He also prayed the court direct respondents to submit a complete list of visas issued to Americans with their nature and mode and place of issuance and explain whether they had been issued in accordance with law, rules and formal practice.
The petitioner asked the court to direct the respondents not to blame Al Qaeda or the Taliban without any proof and stating that Al Qaeda had accepted the responsibility over an anonymous phone call was an irresponsible act, adding that the respondents be restrained from such pursuits.
The petitioner questioned whether the attack by the terrorists was due to a security lapse?
He further questioned if the attack had been launched by the CIA and RAW to prove after the Abbottabad incident that Pakistan had failed to control the terrorists and may be thus incapable to protect its nuclear assets.
The petition questioned whether the Americans who were reportedly working on PNS Mehran Base were spies of CIA and might have abetted the attackers.
The petitioner said the operation must have been carried out with the help of spies working inside the premises and these could be the Americans working at the base.
He further stated that the government, particularly Rehman Malik has supported the plans of US, as just after reaching the site of occurrence, he gave briefing that operation could be due to the retaliation of Abbottabad incident.
He said it appeared that the interior minister was a CIA agent, as he was seconding their version.
“The ongoing circumstances transpire that the respondents have struck some underhand deal on the integrity, security and sovereignty of the country in lieu of millions and billions of dollars, which the rulers are accumulating in their foreign accounts,” the petitioner maintained.
