Our security situation

The TTP had sounded very clearly that they would avenge Osama’s murder and step up their strikes and it was also anticipated that the TTP shall begin their strikes soon in major cities. It appears that this warning was taken very lightly.

Terrorists stuck again on heavily guarded naval air base in Karachi causing colossal damage. This is something very serious and calls for proper investigations as to how such guarded premises were attacked. It is true that we cannot guard and deploy intelligence personnel at every place but at the same time we cannot sit on this premise and wait for another attack.

Lately, school children managed to enter the Allama Iqbal airport unchecked and managed to sneak in to the landing gear of the aircraft. These are very vulnerable places and cannot be fully guarded by establishing isolated check posts. Terrorist can strike on theses targets any time without any resistance. Keeping in view the sensitivities of these places there is urgent need to secure these areas through electronic means to deny access to terrorists. Let us revisit our security plans without wasting any more time.
