Kinnaird College(KC) in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) held a one month Professional Competency Enhancement Program at KC on Monday. Around 35 faculty members from KC, Lahore College for Women University and Punjab University are participating in the workshop. KC Vice-Principal Dr Nikhat Khan said the program would enable teachers to improve their communication skills, understand students’ learning difficulties, acquire skills and different teaching methodologies including effective use of audio visual aids and internet, curriculum designing and evaluation techniques which were integral to the learning process.
She thanked HEC for promoting quality education in Pakistan by raising research standards, upgrading and updating curricula, giving institutions recurring grants and funds for equipment and infrastructure, making available digital library with thousands of journals, monitoring institutions and ensuring mandatory quality assurance. Khan also appreciated KC Political Science Professor and Workshop Coordinator Asma Awan and Zeba Sohail for coordinating the program.
Asma Awan introduced the courses included in the training workshop. She said the workshop based on 70 sessions would end on June 23. Everyday three sessions would be conducted and 90percent attendance was mandatory for the participants, she added. Islamia University Bahawalpur Education Department Dean Dr Aslam Ateeq Dean and the key speaker thanked the organisers and participants.
