Funnyman Russell Brand was deported from Japan on Sunday because of his previous convictions, according to his pop star wife Katy Perry. The ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ star had jetted to the country with the ‘I Kissed a Girl’ hit-maker’s tour entourage but was allegedly held by immigration officials and subsequently expelled from Japan due to prior criminal offences from more than a decade ago. An angry Perry took to her Twitter.
com blog to tell fans of Brand’s deportation, writing, “My husband just got deported from Japan. I am so sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place.” Brand seemed to be in good spirits over the whole ordeal however, tweeting at one point, “Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick.” Brand is open about his past issues with drugs and run-ins with the law at the height of his addiction. He was also arrested last September over a clash with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.
