PPLA to protest in Islamabad on May 26

The Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) announced a sit-in at the Constitutional Avenue in front of the parliament in Islamabad on May 26. The rally will be initiated from Islamabad Poly Clinic. PPLA officials said after the protest outside the Lahore Civil Secretariat, a summary regarding a bonus package for the lecturers had been sent to the Punjab Chief Minister. They said PPLA had formed various committees to organize the protest under the supervision of Rizwanul Haq, Dr Nasir Rana, Amna Manto and Zahida Niazi. The association is demanding up-gradation of the time scale, implementation of teaching allowances, permanent scale for contract teachers, double qualification allowance, scholarships, welfare funds, timely payment of group insurance and rejecting new promotion policy.
