A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official has confirmed Pakistani cricketers participating in English county cricket may be asked to report back to Pakistan to play in a domestic T20 tournament. Pakistan’s T20 domestic series clashes with the Friends Provident Twenty20 competition in England where Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, Rana Naved ul Hasan and Yasir Arafat are scheduled to take part. The PCB has taken the move to include all high-profile cricketers to maintain the popularity of domestic cricket in Pakistan.
“The players in England are likely to be called back to Pakistan for the domestic Twenty20 competition, as we want to maintain the interest in the tournament and ensure that all of the leading players are present and taking part”, the official said. The PCB has not confirmed the dates for domestic tournament to be played in Faisalabad.
