An 8-year-old boy, who was nominated in a case of creating hindrance in government work and the anti-encroachment drive, late on Saturday, appeared before the deputy superintendent police (DSP) of Ichchra Police Station in order to include himself in the interrogation of the case. According to details, the Samanabad Town Administration on May 18 launched a massive crackdown against encroachments at Main Bazaar Ichchra.
After the drive concluded, an official of the said town administration complained to Ichchra Police that around a dozen men, including an 8-year-old boy Abdul Munir, a resident of Al Mecca Colony located in Township Area, created hindrance in government work and stopped them from carrying out the anti-encroachment drive. Ichchra Police registered a case against a dozen men, including Munir, under Section 290/291/186 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Although police have started investigation but it neither arrested any accused nor contacted any of them. Sheikh Farhan, father of Munir, who runs a shop named Arooj Shawls in Main Ichchra Bazaar, came to know about the nomination of Irfan, who runs a stall in front of his shop, in the same case. Farhan told Pakistan Today that on May 19, he went to court for getting pre-arrest bail of Irfan. He said that when he appeared in court, he came to know that the town administration had also nominated his 8-year-old son in the same case.
Farhan said that he was quite astonished and thinking that how his little son could create any trouble for officials of a town administration. The trader claimed that his son was not even present at the shop on the day of the incident and he too was not present at his shop when the incident happened. Farhan said that he discussed the matter with his lawyer and appeared in court on May 20, from where he managed to get his son’s pre-arrest bail after submitting a surety bond of Rs 50,000.
He said that on Saturday, after getting pre-arrest bail, he decided to present his child for interrogation. Farhan said that late on Saturday, he along with Munir appeared before Ichchra DSP Ameer Ali Kichi. He said that the DSP was also astonished after hearing about his son’s nomination in the case. Munir’s father said that the DSP was little busy but after knowing the details, he assured them of cooperation.
Kichi said that it looks like that officials of the town administration mistakenly included Munir’s name in the FIR.
He said that the complainant included names in the FIR after hearing from other people.
The DSP said that he has called the complainant of the case today (Sunday) to appear before him. The policeman said that he had also summoned the other nominated accused, including Munir, to investigate the matter. He said that police will conclude the case on high moral and ethical grounds and release all nominated accused if evidence proved that no one created any trouble in this regard. To a question, he said that nomination of a child in such a case is totally baseless, as he could not create any trouble.
