Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his team to return their US visas before announcing to sever links with the US.
Talking to reporters, PML-Q Deputy Parliamentary Leader in Punjab Assembly Amir Sultan Cheema demanded the Sharif brothers announce not to meet any US official or diplomats at their residence again. Commenting on the recent policy statement by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah for ending all contacts and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed between Pakistani government and the White House, Cheema said a majority of PML-N leaders had multiple US visas and often visited the US for medical check ups, business and vacationing.
He said before urging other political forces of the country, Shahbaz should announce a ban on the travel to the US of his team and himself, be it for ant reason. Cheema also suggested that the Sharif brothers announce an end to their meetings with US officials, diplomats and other delegations at their Raiwind residence. He said such slogans of ending relations with the US was a political motto to for point scoring, but the people of Pakistan were aware of the PML-N’s true designs.
On the occasion, PML-Q parliamentarians Seemal Kamran, Amna Ulfat and Khadija Umar said if the Punjab law minister was sincere in ending relations with the US, he should submit written applications on behalf of his government to the authorities concerned to close the US Consulate in Lahore. Criticising the statements by the PML-N leadership, the parliamentarians said these slogans were mere political point scoring, as the PML-N was busy in politicking on sensitive national issues, including security matters.
