Miliband calls on Zardari, discusses Pak-UK relations

Former British foreign secretary David Wright Miliband on Friday called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency to discuss the Pak-UK bilateral relations and other matters of mutual interest.
Well-placed sources said President Zardari said during his meeting with Miliband that Pakistan highly valued its relations with the UK, which would be strengthened further. Zardari said terrorists had no borders and Pakistan would continue its efforts to eliminate terrorism. “We will succeed at all costs to cleanse the country from terrorists,” he underlined.
Miliband acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the war against terrorism, adding that the international community would have to play its role to steer Pakistan out of crises. Miliband also called on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and exchanged views on bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the two expressed satisfaction over the regular interactions between the leaders of the two countries. Hina commended Miliband for his efforts as the foreign secretary in launching the British Pakistan Foundation, and also his contribution towards the Pak-UK Strategic Dialogue, which was formally launched during Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit to Pakistan on April 5, 2011.
During the meeting, Pakistan-India relations, the situation in Middle East as well as the country’s relations with Afghanistan came under discussion.
