DCO Lahore Ahad Cheema sought a detailed report about swamps along both banks of the River Ravi amidst the threat of floods in the upcoming monsoon season. The DCO ordered foolproof safety and monitoring measures for the residents of low laying areas. Presiding over a meeting of the District Emergency Board, the DCO was briefed about the status of the emergency relief measures by Assistant Commissioner Amna Munir and other heads of the relevant departments.
The DCO instructed WASA and the Irrigation Department to monitor those ramps, which were under flood threat. He asked WASA to clear all drains of the city for an uninterrupted water flow during the monsoon season. The DCO asked TMOs of all towns to coordinate with the Building Planning DO to identify the decrepit buildings and take measures to prevent any collapse during the monsoon season. He directed the Health Department to keep all necessary medicines and vaccines available for first aid at all Basic Health Units.
He ordered LESCO officials to check the status of electric poles and wires for safety of citizens to prevent possible mishaps. He ordered Metrological Office, Rescue 1122, WAPDA, Civil Defense and Health Department to coordinate with each other.
